MINDSET

I firmly believe that you belong right where you are, that all the challenges life throws at you are meant for you to grow in the best possible way and that you deserve every good thing happening to you. With that in mind I deeply appreciate every moment that I can spend capturing scenes of my life, new souls that I come across and everything else that gets in front of my lens.

AM I A PHOTOGRAPHER?

Sometimes I jokingly mention that I'm not a photographer and that I just own a good camera. So I'm even more thankful for all the people telling me to keep going and all the compliments I got throughout the years taking pictures.I haven't taken any courses or read any books about photography. Everything I know I taught myself over the years by trial and error and of course watching YouTube videos of people with way more experience than me.
And now? Do i take good pictures now?
Well, ther's the tricky part: who is to judge what a good picture really is? Is it all emotion?
Is it what you want to bring across as a photographer?
Or is it just about how clean and free of imperfections your picture is or - if we talk analog - how good the grain looks after digitizing...
My answer to that:
just don't look at other peoples work for a week, a month, a year even.

Pick up you trash and just be good
that's how it is in my hood.

STYLE

I like the look of analog film photography. So one day I'm gonna go and get myself an older camera and spend an unreasonable amount of money on pictures I could have taken with my digital camera in way less time.
Until then I try to emulate the look of film as good as I can.
I love to take pictures of people in the moment. Laughing, enjoying their time and not posing for the camera. Unfortunately most of those shots aren't suitable for publishing.
The portraits I publish are edited with lightroom and my own presets.

My interest in photography started to manifest in my teenage years when i got my first Smartphone. I didn't really think about doing anything more than just taking snapshots of stuff that I found worth taking pictures of.A few years later after saving up money from my first summer job i bought my first camera. I had absolutely no idea that there was a huge market of used cameras and lenses, so that definitely was unfortunate for my budget at the time.
Since then I rarely bought lenses in new condition and i have no regrets whatsoever.
The pictures I took at that time consisted of mostly shots of landscape and stills of objects I found interesting.
Not long ago I went out of my comfort zone after getting a camera that is good enough for spontaneous shootings in any condition and started to take on more street and portrait photography.
Paired with my knowledge of lightroom I can deliver edited pictures on the same day I took them.
Taking portraits of people is always a pleasure for me. Getting to know them, their life stories and what their hopes and dreams are give me new perspective on things.
But there are also times when people and busy streets are too much, so I just go for a hike and take my camera with me.
I'm always open for new things, experimenting with all kinds of different styles and subjects. This website only shows a small fraction of my work.
Less is sometimes more ;)
